So my little iMac is pretty long in the tooth, not much can be done with a DV+ 450mhz G3 these days, heck the G4 cube I use at work is only a little better.

Well soon my car will be paid off and at that time I hope to buy a new mac. No iMac BS this time either, full PowerMac G5.

Sadly the speed but that just happened kinda screwed me up, I've got a max budget of two grand, and now the entry level is 2 grand, silly apple.

Beside from that point though, has anyone seen the self contained liquid cooling on the 2.5ghz? freaking sweet!

  2. I had that same iMac about 2 years ago, if I where you I'd get to really good Windows machines for the same price.

New models introduced, you get new, but discontinued 1.6Ghz, 1.8dual or 2.0dual for dirt cheap. Why complain? Discontinued is good option, it's cheaper than current production model.

I suppose you don't really need PCI-X slots (old 1.8, new 2.0 and faster), unless you want to setup 10Gb fiber-ethernet and super-high specsed disk arrays.

Scottie: before you suggest I buy a good PC you might want to hover youmouse over the button that shows my PCs profile. I got PC covered good enough for now, but I'm a dual platform guy.

Your actually quite right, dont really need PCIX, and yeah the old 1.6 would work if there are still some around for grabs by the time I'm ready. But I really had my heart set on getting a dual CPU if possible and it just doesnt look like thats something I'm going to be able to handle unless I raise my budget a bit. Oh well its only an extra month to raise the money I guess.
