Lawyers couldn't do squat. All happened in a private home. If anything the kid could go to Juvy because he allowed his "underage' friends to have beer & wine.

Sell the games, then perhaps put the kid to work in the back yard doing real work for a change. Give him a taste of how bad it could be at home, and how lucky he has it

Tell dad to send the boy out here. It's 100°F and I've got about 4 hours of good blue-collar work at $7.00 per hour. We'll see how he likes workin' for a living, and since my hip is bothering me today, he can have the pleasure of listening to me ride his ass those four hours.

I wasn't too bad when I was a kid, though I had my fair share of trouble. I did blow up a pool shed (long story) and my dad made me mow our lawn for 4 weeks with a push mower (the one without the motor). I had to mow every other day for the entire month or I would be grounded for 2 months, even if I missed 1 day. I thought it was a bit harsh at that time, but I think I'd do the same to my kid if he did a few of the things I did.

If my kid did what I did I'd hold his head under water

That sounds really strange because fanny means something completely different in UK.

I think parents, like the kids, are getting smarter too. A firm backhand isn't always good enough to stop the kids. You gotta do a little emotional damage to keep the child in line. At 5 yrs. old a kid might burn his hand badly on the stove, yet it still heals completely over, but at that age an event like that is emotionally tragic and the kid never goes near the stove again until he has a better understanding when he's old enough.

The kid, who's getting his PS2 sold, needs something to happen to him on the emotional level and get his F'in A** in gear.

Maybe the boy needs it across the front too. Make him think twice about having sex before his pubes grow out.

No, because then you'd either get sued by the little pud-knocker for abusive treatment, or you'd get arrested

  19. Way to go, Dad !!!!

Today parents and schools tend to be nothing but big pussies when it comes to children and discipline. It's the job of parents to prepare their children for the real world. The real world is one where actions have consequences.

Again -- way to go. He may be pissed now, but he'll both understand and appreciate it later in life. Especially when he has kids of his own!!

  20. Discipline has nothing to do with phisical abuse (spanking, hitting..etc).
I was never spanked and my kid will never be spanked or hit.

Discipline, by teaching the right way...

You have to agree with this logic. Stiltman wasn't disciplined, and most of his postings show a complete lack thereof.

Now now, every parent has their own way of discipline, so lets respect that.

Every kid needs a different kind of discipline for different situations. I think spanking a 4 year old for knocking over a glass of water is a bit aggressive. Now a 13 year old beating on another sibling that doesn't respond to traditional non-aggressive discipline needs a butt whooping with a fresh, green branch off of an unpruned apple tree. Those switches don't break and they are smooth and long.

I was never disciplined and I turned out OK. Both my parents are doctors so they never had time for discipline...sure I'd get yelled at once in a while for doing something wrong or getting bad grades. But other than that...no discipline for me.

Anyway, back to the ps2. The kid had it coming...what mommy and daddy buy for you, mommy and daddy can take away. Which is why I prefer to buy my own stuff. Most of my clothes, videogame consoles, and games come from my own pocket.

Also, what kind of an idiot would buy that for 122 bucks? For a few more bucks, you could buy a brand new one w/ a network adapter attatched.
