  1. hi
i have the dvr 70 which i have owned about 1 year but in the last week it fails to record.
i tried pack/bell dvd+rw discs and when i tried to record "disc warning" closely followed by "disc error" came up and on the few occasions that it managed to get to the "post formatting" stage the "disc error" came on again.
thinking it maybe a compatibility problem i tried using the philips discs but the same thing happened.
i've reset the factory settings and tried the firmware but it is no use, it will record nothing.
has this happened to anyone else and if so were you able to get it fixed.
    thanks.

  2. It's broken, I have had 2 Philips DVDR75's do that, one brand new out of the box, one over a year old. I replaced them with the Ilo DVDR04, had it a couple of months now and am suprised at the 4hr quality, and the $16 three year extended warrenty. My out of the box dead philips has been in warrenty repair since 9-2, and it's eta is 1-2-05. No more Philips for me.

  3. thanks.
i've had bother with it from day 1.
guess i'll just put it down to experience.
i'll see what else is out there but i also will not be going near another philips.

  4. I think the key is extended warrenty, no matter what you buy. My first Philips DVDR75 worked very well for the 1st year, month later is was dead, am getting an almost full refund from the aftermarket extended warrenty. If you have a Walmart, their online extended warrenties are a good price, $20. Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet to see how well they honor it.
