Does anyone have a DUAL LAYER dvd writer yet? NEC has one for $98 and I was wondering what your thoughts are one it.

Can you backup a movie easily and make it work on a dvd player, etc...

From what I see there is no point to having one yet, the disks are outrageous ($13) and the compatability w/ existing dvd players is very poor, something like 50% from some report I read.

Ill stick w/ my existing drive.

Too early. I didn't even think the media was available yet. Wait until everything starts getting mainstream and then worry about DL. For now it's like being part of some big, twisted, beta.

No, but I was referring to the price of the new dual-writers
The AO7's are circa £55 in the UK now, which is good considering we always pay more than our US friends.

£65.16 for an NEC dual-layer dual-format 8x burner. Don't know how good it is, though.

I'm sticking with my Pioneer DVR-106 for now.
