I formatted a Memorex DVD+RW in my CyberHome CH-DVR 1500 (a piece of junk). I then inserted it into my Sony RDR-GX7 (not a piece of junk), and the GX7 wouldn't recognize it. I figured I'd just use my PC to reformat it. At this point, neither machine would recognize it. I'm guessing that it was a different type of format.
Anyway, after jiggering around with it, I finally got it to the point where the DVR 1500 will record on the disc, and the GX7 will play what's been recorded on it, but the GX7 will neither let me format the disc nor record anything on it. All my options are "grayed out."
According to DVD-Info, the Memorex is a Ricoh.
Is there any way I can get this thing back to where the GX7 will recognize it as a legitimate disc? I really don't give a damn whether the CyberHome does, since I only got it as a cheap backup in case anything went wrong with the GX7.

Try erasing in a PC DVD writer
- DVD Decrypter (rightclick on source drive)
or
- Alcohol 120% (set ignore illegal TOC)
or

Tompika,
I tried a re-format using DVD-Info Pro, but <sigh> it didn't work. The GX7 doesn't treat it as a legitimate disc.Jim R.
