I have a little 5 minute mov file that I saved and would like to put on a DVD-r. I have QT (free).

I found RAD Tools that will convert it to an AVI (AVI to MPEG2 converstion tools are easy to find). However, there is no audio with the converted file. I am using the default codec (YUY2). The FAQs mention that sometimes the mov file may be designed to inhibit copying of the audio with the video.

I would like to work around this. Since I am getting the video and audio into the video system of the computer, is there a way of captutring it off of that? (I am obviously a newbie). I have been succesfully using VS7 for simple VCR video capturing but it only looks to the video inputs for input.

I do have an ATI card but have given up on getting MMC8.1 to work. I will not reformat just to get ATI's total lack of support off the hook. (pardon my digression).

    Thanks, LarryB

you may try mov2avi using the -w switch to extract the audio from your source. but be aware, it's a commandline-utillity.
