    I don't want to spend the three hours encoding a movie to have to go through and edit out the little pieces i don't want. Any idea of programs -freeware or shareware- that would let me do this in the original formats (.asf, .avi)?

    You might try ASFCut and ASFCutGUI for asf files...

    Thanks Clint! Time to relearn my method for editing Just when i had a system asll figured out, but i would prefer less decodes, less quality loss that way!
