I just installed a new DVD drive today and I am testing out my first DVD burned discs.
I am importing video from VHS tape, editing it in Premiere Pro, and then wanting to export it to DVD's.
I am using the Adobe Media Encoder and selecting MPEG2-DVD as my format. My question is which preset to choose and why?
I am using DVD MovieFactory 2 as my authoring program and it does not support separate streams so it is necessary for me to set the Multiplexing to 'DVD'.
The following are the 6 NTSC default presets for MPEG2-DVD:
NTSC DV High quality 4Mb VBR 2 Pass
NTSC DV High quality 7Mb CBR 1 Pass
NTSC DV High quality 7Mb VBR 2 Pass SurCode for Dolby Digital 5.1
NTSC DV Low quality 4Mb CBR 1 Pass
NTSC Progressive High quality 4Mb VBR 2 Pass
NTSC Progressive High quality 7Mb CBR 1 Pass
What I am seeking is a general explanation on when to use each of the presets. When should I use 'NTSC DV High quality 7Mb CBR 1 Pass' versus 'NTSC Progressive High quality 7Mb CBR 1 Pass' and why?
A much simpler question would be which of these presets is the most appropriate for creating DVD's that should be compatible with all DVD players.
Could anyone refer me to documentation that summarizes this information or could anyone please provide me input on preferred presets?
Thanks
