I have a coupon code to download movies for 99 cents from Movielink (www.dealsofamerica.com has it).
So I am downloading movies now and then. I am now bored of watching movies on my Laptop, I want to watch those movies on my Big Screen TV.
Question is
Can I watch movie stored on my Laptop to my TV ? (My TV can act as monitor or screen)
My laptop is latest with almost everything (2.8 Ghz, P4 and all)
What do I need to watch movie on TV ?
Thanks in advance

Well being that your movie is copy protected it cant be converted LEGALLY to anyther format so you need to have a TV Out port on your video card. It has to be a TV OUT port not an "In" port. I am not sure exactly what type of video your notebook has but most that I have seen dont have the hardware for it. Maybe there is one that can hook to a USB, USB2, or firewire port if you have those. But either way for you its a hardware issue. I know some of the "Dazzle" line of video cards had whats called the "DV Bridge" that connected via firewire to your pc and it had an external connector that took in and broadcast out tv signals.

Hi rob123,
Its most likely that your laptop will have an s-video output port. Its usually yellow in color, though not always. To hook your laptop to your TV, you will need an s-video dongle cable. Check if your TV has an s-video input port. In that case, you will need an S-video to S-video cable. If your TV has three input RCA ports (one yellow, one red and one white), in that case you will need an s-video to RCA cable. Its a $2-$3 item, easily available at your local computer hardware store, such as Radioshack.
Once you have hooked up the laptop to your TV, using the appropriate cable, you need to turn on your laptop, and on the main desktop screen, right-click, and select Properties. Now select the Settings tab on the top. Now click on the Advanced button. Now, depending on the video card in your laptop, you will see different options.
If the video card is ATI, you will see a Displays tab. Under the Displays tab, the TV will be listed but grayed out.
Click the green or red power button for the television. Click the Apply button. Now Click on OK.
If the video card is NVIDIA, you will see a tab called 'TwinView'.
Set the TwinView Mode to Clone. Click the Apply button. Click the GeForce2 Go tab. Click the Additional Properties button. Click the Overlay Controls tab. Click the Video Mirror Controls button. The Full Screen Video Mirror Control window appears.
Click Secondary Display under Full Screen Device. Click the Apply button and then click the OK button.
(You will need to press the Video or Input 1 button on your TV remote first, or whatever you press to watch VHS).
NOTE: If you do not get video output on your television after following the steps listed above, you may need to right-click on display 2 in the TwinView tab, click Select Output Device, and specify S Video-Out or Composite Video-Out for Video output format.
Do note however, that using this process, you will only get video output, and no sound. To get sound, you will also need to hook up the earphone jack in your laptop to the audio RCA jack on your TV. For this, you will need to purchase an additonal headphone to audio RCA cable.
Hope this helps! -
