  1. I'm really struggling to see what I've done wrong, perhaps someone here can help? I have had a relatively easy time making my VCD's, and am quite happy with it. The thing is, I've just burned the mpg right to the disk, no menus, etc. Just straight video.

I'm now attempting doing it with menus and am using the latest Nero. I followed the "How To" on this site step by step, and created the menu. The menu appears on my screen with the selected image, and the title of my video on the screen, but I cannot select it!! The only way to view the video is to "stop" the DVD player, and select the "next" button to go to the next track. When I do that - then I can see the video. I just can't do it from the menu.

I've done the following steps, anyone see a problem:
    1. Select "VCD" and then did the menu tab.
    2. Enabled menu.
    3. Changed only: added background image, cleared away the header/footer information.
    4. Select new.
    5. Dragged my .mpg into the video layout
    6. Changed the name of the .mpg by select properties, and renaming
    7. Double clicked the 'menu' and liked the way it looked.
    8. Burned to CD.

I don't see anything wrong. Was there something else I need to do to make it select my text???

Thanks guys, I hate bashing my head against a wall.

  2. i made some menues too using nero but i don't see any problems on what you did. the only difference is when i encoded by avi files to mpeg, i saved them the same as their original titles, i didn't have to rename them. now to be able to use the menu, i have to stop the player but i can select any track i want. my only problem was when are are more than one page of menu, i can't go to the next page of the menu like 2/2. but i stopped doing menues with nero, i now use ulead's dvd movie factory, trial version though. in my opinion coz did some movies using it, it's like a dvd disc where you can select any chapters or menues you want, the ones you created and it's very easy to use. i'm trying to get the full version and it can even burn 80 minutes of video using the 700mb cdrs, but i can only burn it at 2x speed, burning it more than 2x it always fails on my computer.

  3. Nero authored still menus are faulty. They do not work on most software DVD players and even some hardware players.

I suggest that you use another program.
