Am ripping PAL dvd to PAL SVCD, have use smartripper to get vob files and now intend to use dvd2avi to create the avi files, my questions are these:
1) under the video options in DVD2AVI there is a colour space option which allows selection between RGB 24 Bit and YUV 4:2:2 which of these selections should I use for a conversion which will ultimately be burned to SVCD for playing on a DVD to Widescreen PAL TV
2) There is also a selection YUV - RGB which allows either pc scale or TV scale, once again which should I select for a PAL SVCD finished product.
3) Clip & Resize has defaulted to 720 x 576 with 0 in all other options, should this be left alone as the movie is in widescreen format.
Sorry to be a pain but as a newbie to this I suspect that many of these conversion programs default settings are for NTSC.
Thanks in advance

First of all, leave the colour space at YUV wherever you can choose it. Secondly get Guardianknot from doom9.org , and read his guides on how to use it. It's the fastest way of making and SVCD, but it's a little complicated. Save the project in DVD2AVI (also set audio>Track to track one, and under dolby digital and mpeg audio tick DEMUX All) and DON'T DELETE OR MOVE THE VOBS. Open the DVD2AVI project in GKnot, crop the black bars out and in the preview window choose save avs, select the options for a SVCD and save. Open this in your encoder and start encoding. You'll need to do the audio seperately so get AZID/LAME GUI, as well as azid and tooLame from doom9.org , use the files ac3 files created in DVD2AVI to make wave files that can then be turned to MP2's and multiplexed with your video.
I know that all seems a little complicated but it's the way I use and it makes things look perfect. So far I've been able to get stunning 2 disc SVCD's (including gladiator, doing as I type this) using this method and CCE. on a P750 a disc is taking about 8.5 hours on 4 pass encoding, and the results are stunning. Also I'm also a region 2 PAL converter. If you need any further advice private message me, I may even type you up a guide.
