Creating a comp. of movies for work under IDVD. They play great in a XBOX. However if Play them in My console (really nice and new to late to remember which model), and when in the PS2(along with my tv dvd) I get "check tv system" as the message. Put in the XBOX, works great.
Well that damn xbox only works with the remote and not a controller, so I need to create it for PS2 so all of our stores and get it work.
I converted all the flicks to DV, just to make sure it wasnt a codec problem. What should I do? I am using the latest version of IDVD...thanks
I have a WINBLOWS machine, but i hate using it. I have been a loyal windows fan until i got this macnow i hate WINBLOW

I have played iDVD movies and they have worked great in my ps2 and xbox also if you want to play movies and use the controller drop me a pm I might be able to help you out on that. -
damn it was late when i wrote this. I totally should have explained that I have done that. I have had it in NTSC from the start. is is maybe because of the the DV files is in PAL mode? but either way it shouldnt matter.
I have even used DVD backup, and taken off all REGION codes, macrovision, and encryption.
What I meant by that was, you can only move the menu and select item with the DVD remote, unlike the ps2. The ps2 you can use the CONTROLLER to move the menu. Which means that noone will steal it cause its attached to our systems which are locked up
Incase you cant tell I work @ GAMESTOP. Anyways let me no and thankx againThanks

So I tried to run the dvd back though DVD Backup and it didnt work.
I think DVDBacukp takes off the video region code (1,2,3,4..ect) but it doesnt change the frequency of the video signal.
I'll do some research on NTSC to pal conversion
Technically if you can change it back to DV format (and if you can demux the sound) you can run it back through Quicktime, FCP or iMovie and rerum it through iDVD
But since you did that the first time I guess its not working
I'll see what I can find
Also you can make the xbox work without the remote or the dongle but it would require a few minor changes but since you work @ gamestop you probably wouldnt want these changes done to your machine at the store.
*Update
So you need to start a new project imovie or Final cut pro then you must export all of the movies from iMovie or Final Cut Pro in NTSC format. Then you must set iDVD to NTSC and create a new project.
That should do it -
probably requires a chip, but no, we cant do any changes to our system. One of the head people wants me to make a bunch of copies for the area and all the other stores, once I figure out how to get it work.
If ya ask me, not worth the 6.10 an hour for working there 2 years...lol good thing its a fun place to work @ cause as we all know CUSTOMERS SUCK
Thanks for looking into it...Thanks

Give that a shot
Did you run the dv footage through iMovie first?
I understand I worked at Electronic Boutiques for $5.03 one Christmas a few years back and every penny I earned and then some went right back to them buying games
Hope it works for you -
As far as playback on an XBox goes, do you need to navigate a menu?
What I mean is it sounds like you want to loop the movies for continuous playback in the store - if so, make a single iMovie and then open iDVD4, select map view, and drop the movie in the autoplay well. Then select the loop movie option in the advanced menu - and then the movies will playback automatically on XBoxes without the PS2 NTSC/PAL issue. -
actually i do need a menu to navigate. I have a default movie playing on the menu w/ an audio clip, but they need to choose the system and then what flick they would like to see.
No I cant run it through iMOVIE first because I need all the video files seperated so the customer can choose which one he/she wants to see.
If I run it through I movie, it makes it one large file...which is what i DONT want...
all the movies are already in DV when i bring them into IDVD4. LIke i said, works fine on XBOX, but doesnt work on ps2 or set top tv dvd(which plays about everything). Keep the ideas comingThanks

I am pretty sure its still a NTSC/PAL videosignal problem you are experencing because a PS2 will definetly not play PAL video. On the other hand (I can double check) but I am pretty sure an unmodded xbox can convert PAL video to NTSC and modded one definitely can with no problem

He also mentions the APEX DVD player capabilities to
You're gonna have to run it through final cut, imovie, or quicktime in NTSC before you use iDVD in NTSC for this to work.
The link also give an alternative way to do this if you have a DVD camera and you wont have to convert anything if you run it from the xbox to DV Cam but you'll still need iMovie though
The one link I gave a while back might allow you to change the header of the file with BBEdit then you wont have to use iMovie or anything else to conver t it if that works. -
