I've been a blade shaver for a long time now, but it's beginning to cause me razor burn. I'm looking to go electric now, but I dont know which to choose. I was wondering if any of you electric razor users could recommend a good one.

  2. I used to use a Phillishave electric razor and whilst it was good for a quick job it still left stubble that would normally not be there if I used a blade.

What shaver are you using at the moment. Perhaps invest in a high end blade razor, one with the aloe vera stick on it to try and stop the burn.

I don't do electric razors. A bag of Bic Disposables is all you need. No shaving cream, no soap, just some water to rinse the razor off.

Razor burn Come on suck it up, be a man. :P :P

Electrics hurt! They don't cut the hair, they rip out the hair.

Tell me you didn't really say "Dick Disposables is all you need. Suck it up".

Cheapo disposable 2-blade razors. Never used electric. I always want the option to cut my own throat if the day starts out too poorly

    Gilette Mach 3

The best a man can get

    yep - I don't use anything else

  9. I went back to electric after I lopped off the beard as I kept
getting razor burn myself. Been using one of those things
that look like octopus suckers (philishave?) and they are
better than the straight electric razors. For the best shave
    you need a cutthroat imo.

  11. Go to your barber and get a proper shave.

I do it every so often. It costs more than doing it yourself but if you choose the right barber then you get the hot work experience girl to do it for you.

I've always wanted to try that but never did

  13. Just remember to get one with a hot work experience chick.

Although the old barber guys sometimes have interesting stories.

You have to fork out some dough and get a decent one! My Norelco never pulls. Works great.... They also take a while to get adjusted to. Once your face is broke in it's no problem

I still have a Braun Synchro, which is good and it doesn't pull the hairs out, but it's horribly expensive to maintain. it's like $20-40 to replace the screen and the cleaning tubs are also around $20 for a 2 pack. I use it for light shaving during the week. However, I let the shadow grow through the weekend and use a Mach 3-Turbo monday morning. Can't get smoother than with a blade.

Sometimes in the shower I will use my wife's "Venus" by Gilette (seriously) and that is very good actually.

I tried it because she used mine, but it did a great job.

I just use some soap and it does a great job, no razor burn, plus it leaves my face silky smooth

I hope you used a new blade. I can tell instantly when my wife uses mine, and she can see it too. It rips my face in half. I can't use a razor blade more than 3 or 4 times if it makes it that far.

yeah, we get octopus sucker types (mine has three heads) over here too. i just find electric more convenient, especially as i have a cordless. i can shave and walk downstairs at the same time, or just do a quick once round in the morning with no hassle and nothing to clean up. again, i can just chuck the thing in a bag and shave anywhere, anytime.

as for smoothness, yeah, a blade is smoother. however, you can buy this still called pre-shave (which always just makes me think of pre-cum) which you slther all over your face, it's like a light oil. this stuff works great, close smooth shave and no redness or pain. so i have the option, quick once over on friday morning, or a decent smooth shave before i go out saturday night.

    Edit:
speaking of the venus shavers, i really laughed a while back. i was going out with a girl who used one. watching TV with a mate, an ad came on saying "new PINK venus! makes you a godess, blah blah!!" and i said something along the lines of "wow, it's ******* pink. i can't believe they think people will be swayed by that advert" then sure enough i saw the ad with her and she went straight out to buy one!!

I used to use Mach 3. I used an Epilady once. I haven't had to shave since.

  23. I use a Gilette Mach 3 with King of Shaves silicon gel. I also used to get razor burn, until I swapped to a quality gel.

  24. At last, after 5 years of laboratory testing, Gillette in conjunction
with NASA scientists presents a razor so advanced it revolutionizes
shaving. The Gillette 3000 pivoting head razor with 16 blades and
    a record 75 lubricating strips.

    Here is how it works.

The 1st blade distracts the hair while the second and third
blade sneak up behind it cutting off any escape routes.

The fourth and fifth blade attempt to coax the hair from its hiding
place using modern counseling techniques while the sixth blade
posing as a passing motorist acts as a decoy allowing the seventh
and eighth blade to swoop down and quickly overpower the hair.
The ninth blade disguised as a postmen administers a small dose
of chloroform allowing blades ten to thirteen to remove the hair
and escort it away for further questioning. The fourteenth blade
informs the hair of its rights. The fifteenth blade handles the
paperwork and the sixteenth blade, well its just along for the
    ride!

  25. And what makes you think "CoffeeGuy"was even referring to shaving his FACE !!?? Perhaps he likes to go "slick willy" and is referring to proper male "grooming".

I know Northcat knows what I mean! Using the wife's "Venus" to shave his face while in the shower. Nothing goes with silk panties like a "slick willy"! Right Northcat ?

BTW -- I think Phillishave is Norelco in the US and ditto the rave reviews about the Gillette Mach3 -- the Turbo with the extra Aloe strip is the smoooothest and least irritating razor shave I have known. Even for my face !
