is my writer near its end

when try 2 copy some dvds im getting a lot of failed reads, not just on crap media but good stuff too, i use my witer for both reading and writing, s it poss. that the erors r caused by my writer is gettting past its best?

1) What media have you tried?

2) When was the last time you cleaned your burner's laser lens?

usually use ritek dvds m8, have never cleaned the len (never even thought about it)

the writers about a year old now so may b needing the lens cleaned.
