    the dual layer dvd burners are soon coming out but my question is will there be a firmware update or a hack that will make my dvd burner i have now burn dvd dual layer?

    The nec nd2500 and the liteon 812s may be upgradable to dual layer.

    Nope. This drive does not have the power to do Dual layer writing. 8X writers or above have the write power achieve this. The 106 is a 4X.
