I have a geoforce 2 card and it has a s video out. i was wondering if i could use that to play my avi files on and watch them onto my tv. if so how can i do it and what if any software do i need? i have an mpeg out card but i can only get it to play dvd's out to my tv. is there a way i could get it to play my avi's out?

Yes you could do that, just connect the svideo and the audio out from your sound card to your tv(something like this http://www.vcdhelp.com/images/tvut.png ) and then use http://www.tvtool.de to switch to videoout.
