I just bought the Epson R200 for this purpose. At $99, you can't beat it. It lacks the more complex features of other printers, but if you just need a reliable disc printer, I'd recommend this one. Personally, I use the Memorex 4X Printable DVD-R discs. No problems at all.

I have heard that sticking labels in DVDs isn't a good idea. They told that if the label were not exactly centered, the dvd could not run in constant speed. It's just a Physics question. And this could, in a long-term, disarrange the optic reader of the dvd-player.

    Is it right?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

The guy is asking about printing direct to disk NOT to a stuck on label..... I hope....

You will get 100's of disks out of one sets of carts when printing to Ritek dvd-r disks... Or i do with my Epson 900.

You can buy printable disks that you can run through certain Epson and other printers so you have a nice printed disk.. Without having to stick one of them lables that reek havoc on playback.

Well, how come??? The disc itself can't pass through the printer! It would be crushed, isn't it?

Did you mean to write on the disc, manually, with a pen?

Sorry if it's a silly question.
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

I still can't understand how a cd can pass through the printer's mechanisms, but ok.

By the way, I have a HP Deskjet 5650. Anybody knows if it can print directly to disc?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

It's not passing directly through. It has it's own little tray that fits into a slot.

  15. Amazon.com has printable Memorex 4x DVD+R on sale for $85.49 per 100 pack spindle with free shipping.

These are RICOHJPNR01 and burn great at 8x in my LiteOn 851. They also print beautifully in my R200. They are not "print to hub" if that makes a difference to you.

Yup, Ive been buying them up too. They were even cheaper for a day or so last week, but the price went back up. They were holding steady at $89.00 after a longgg period of $99.00, so getting them now at $85.00 is even better than the $89.00
