From MiniDV to Harddrive-Newbie

Using iMovie, I extract clips off my DV Camera.
What format is the saved clip? Besides iMovie, how can I split the Video and the Audio into more standard formats?

Can anyone suggest any forums for discussing working with the footage off the DV Camera?
How about forums for iMovie?

Clips are stored as DV and all this would be in whatever folder you saved when it asked you to create a new project.

Split the video and audio into standard formats? What formats do you want? You can edit and then export over to iDVD to burn as dvd but aside from that your SHARE option is about the only formats you can export to. CD Quality [or whatever thats 2nd to last one is called] is the highest quality you can get aside from exporting as DV [HUGE!!!!!!!!!]
