Windows XP is usually good about detecting new hardware but nothing has shown up =/ also the card didnt go in as easily as most PCI cards do, I couldnt get it all the way flush with the case if that makes any sense but when i finally did get it in winxp didnt recondize it =/ would taking it back out and putting it back in help? thanks

Just for the hell of it, try it in a different slot. Try to avoid the slot just below the AGP video card. (It can cause problems with some MB's)

i was thinkin about using a different PCI, i cant try it till tommorow though(fiancee has to be up at 5:15a.m. EEP!) has anyone had that much trouble getting a PCI card in? thats the part that really mystified me.

Also, some of the cheapie firewire cards just plain don't work. I got one from this warehouse store for $2.50 and couldn't get it to workon 3 different computers. The guys at the store said it works on everything before XP, even though they couldn't get it to work with an ME machine. Still kept it, though, as it came with a cable (worth more than $2.50 itself

Probably a bad card. I bought a ethernet card a month ago and my pc wouldnt even start until i pulled it out. Maybe its some type of IRQ problem.

tried a different PCI slot, and it detected it, but its not working in the device manager is says "Device cannot start" the card itself didnt come with a drivers disk or anything. I'll try to mess around with it =) thanks
*EDIT*
Apparently a lot of people have the "device cannot start code 10" problem, but there's no definate solution =/ is it to much to ask for me to start capturing? any ideas/suggestions/crazy thoughts? I'll try anything -
Buy a better card. Preferably one with a driver disc just in case XP can't find one.
In the meantime it wouldn't be a bad idea if you checked the manufacturer's website for an updated driver. -
oddly enough the website doesnt offer drivers for it =/ they depend on the windows drivers for it to work. is there a reccomended firewire card i could buy?
