I've been using TDK media for over a year now and have never burnt a coaster making my DVD-Rs. My last 2 purchases have been disastrous, almost every disk played jerky, and freezing.
I've heard that TDK is using CMC to manufacture their disks. I'm not sure if this is the problem. I just wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem![]()

CMC won a major contract to assume the majority of TDK DVD production. This isn't really new - more and more manufacturers are switching to CMC because their unit cost is so much lower than using one of the higher end manufacturers.
Surprisingly, TDK branded CMC media is the only CMC stuff that has worked consistently with my Plextor 708a. Everything else from this pot luck OEM has failed. -
c-note said he got some TDK's (+R) from costco the other day and they are still RICOHJPN, and with costco they dont ask questions about returns.
