i have an older dvd player that plays every dvd-r i feed it except for ones that are converted from vcd (using svcd2dvd), it even plays the svcd ones (using svcd2dvd). do you think this is because just the header is patched to dvd format? and maybe i should check patch entire file and that will work? what do you think?

It could be that your player just doesn't like mpeg-1. Try using another program like TMPGEnc DVD Author instead. Maybe the problem has to do with the way svcd2dvd authors.

Suit yourself. Don't be surprised if the picture quality takes a noticeable hit.

It's fine if you want to convert to mpeg-2 instead. I just wanted to warn you that the results don't usually turn out well.

ouch....good call on the quality decrease....i think im gonna try a different authoring program.
