I was asked earlier about the Taiyo Yuden discs I was planning to get soon, so I have an interesting story to tell. At the moment, the cheapest deal one can get in the location I am in is $70 for a 25-disc spindle, so the $68 for 50 Taiyo Yudens seemed too good to be true.
It was.
The Disc Shop doesn't do mail order or online retail at the moment. When I heard this, I just had to tell them they were letting an excellent market opportunity go to waste. As I said, this area only has storefront retailers that charge the same amount for half as many discs, so to not go out of their way to attract customers from this area is just bad business.
Unfortunately, this is not unique in Australia. When one wants to buy something in an area like the Fraser Coast, you can almost count on only one place stocking it, and them charging as much as they possibly can for it. Is anyone genuinely surprised that I really want to move elsewhere? I hope not. Anyway, I've placed an order for a 50-disc spindle of Infosmart discs from a retailer that was somewhat more reasonable. I'll see this Monday how they go.
