    I am am converting widescreen laserdiscs to DVD and trying to make the finished project anamorphic. Ulead Workshop has a an "output display option" for Widescreen TVs that can be set to "source is letterboxed." In the Ulead preview window, it looks as it should, but then when playing the finished DVD the picture is either stretched too far or simply not anamorphic at all.

    Is this a problem I need to correct in the DV conversion to MPEG2? I use TMPGEnc and have tried all possible settings and nothing seems to work.

    Any suggestions?

    Stop right now. Leave your laserdisc conversions at 4:3. Enlarging them to anamorphic size degrades the image severly.
