  1. I have a cyberhome, and will play SVCD files fine, but if I just create a standard CDR data disk with avi, or even MPEG, nine times out of ten it plays or recoginizes just 4 out of 50 data files. Not sure why.

    Thanks

  2. well, avi's are probably not going to be handled by the player since they're probably some kind of codec (divx, xvid) they won't play..

Though I hear the Phillips 65$ player will play divx (and there should be a thread around on the hardware page).

How're your files named? I know I had an issue when something was like "Show Name - Season 1 - Episode 2 (blah description).mpg" but had no problem when it took out the ( ) marks. So maybe it's just named a format your player doesn't like.

  3. I'll try renaming and see if that does the trick...what model is the philips? I also see that some dvd's now (at target for example) list CD-R, CD-RW readable, wonder if that would make a difference?

  4. If you're after a new DVD player and you have specific requirements, then you can search the DVD Players section to your left. You'll find a wealth of information on any players you are considering buying. It's a real time- and life-saver.

As far as your AVIs are concerned, are they the same format? Perhaps your player just doesn't like some of the more exotic types of AVI you can get.
