yea i saw that add as well, which ones would you get the + or -, i had a 25 spindle of both and they both worked. which one is more compatable though?

I had Office Depot price match because I don't have a Best Buy close to me. I tried at Office Max but all they had was the black spindle packs (likely CMC)Office Depot only had a couple of gray spindles and the rest (about 6) where black. Now I've read here that some black's are Ricoh, but I prefer to play it safe and get the gray's. I'm hoping that soon they'll be a really good sale on these so I can get a bunch more before CMC takes over. Looks to me like CMC is going to faze out Ricoh very soon. It's interesting to look at all the different brands of DVD media and see that cheap brands are always packed in black spindles.

I just picked these up and they don't work with my lite-on. These same memorex used to work. I have tried 2 sets from amazon and they haven't worked either. This really pisses me off. Memorex must have changed what media they use.

you probably have the cmc's instead of the ricohs. i had a problem with these until i updated my firmware. check to see if your drive has any updated firmware.

given the chance i would avoid the cmc's at all cost. however, it appears that is becoming increasingly difficult to accomplish.

I bought memorex dvd-r about three weeks ago. 50 for 49.99 + tax.
They were maid in Taiwan.

Are they cmc's or ricohs?

I have used about 4 and they work fine my xbox and apex ad1600

Use DVDinfo to find out who makes the disc. I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure that Ricoh only makes +r, does anyone know if BestBuy will let you return an opened package of discs? Oh course they would all be there.

Why not just buy the 50 pack Ritek G04's from Newegg for $49.00 No tax, free shipping...then you don't have to wonder who makes what...

i have bought both DVD-R and DVD+R from bestbuy the + have been always richos and the -R's have always been CMC. Before i use i check the Media code and if CMC i just return it , as i dont want to take risks. Now i got imation from office depot for 75 cents a disk they are richos too works well on my sony dru500a

I bought 300 of these DVD-Rs on Monday. I Burned 70 DVD's So far. All burned 4X. No Coasters, and so far the are playing flawlessly. I have 3 computers with 3 DVD burners. All are Pionneer DVD witers. I am using Tmpeng DVD writing tool to burn. Most of my DVD's were authored using Tmpeng DVD Author.

I am not sure what the Media code is.

Bought these at BestBuy.
