I recently downloaded a video (documentary.. not porn(get ya minds outta the gutter)). This video manages to play but a little jerky however once the avi has been viewed or even just a right click properties of the file my whole system goes into lag mode (the process "explorer.exe" sits on 99% usage). Its not just some peculiarity with my pc either because I copied the video to disk and put it on a few other machines, all exhibit the same symptoms. The video file is very difficult to delete/remove. The only way I found to remove was safe mode and a program called moveonboot. Once the avi is deleted my systems return to normal.

Could this avi be corrupt or damaged somehow? How can I test/diagnose the avi?

Other investigations I have made into this seem to indicate that its not possible for an avi to be infected with a virus?

This video is DEFINITELY the root cause of some major problems and my curiosity is piqued. I need to find out how/why?

    Anyone know anything about this?
