Not sure about the 655a But just purchased the DV-667a As far as I can tell they do support both JPG and WMA.
The Pioneer I purchased does support.
On other brands I have noticed you can use a combination of mp3/JPG and get the choice to view or play either. But with the Pioneer player you must have either MP3/WMA or JPEG on there own seperate disk as a single session. If the MP3 or WMA disk contains one or more JPEG files then the disk will be recognised as PICTURE disk and there will be no way to get access to any of the mp3 or WMA files or even know they are there. It will only show the picture files.
Long file names are supported as well up to 32 characters. -

Doesn't look like those players do & for the price, it's sad.
There are some low-end players that will do what you want. Search the DVD Player list over there <-------- -
Headbanger's ball, it is not clear from the 1st link whether the 655A supports WMA.And as u said, the 2nd link is for 757Ai.Any help from others will be helpful
