A quick question, and dont worry I BUY all of my DVD movies. I bought the original Terminator DVD about a week ago and the special menu had some deleted scenes that were deleted from the original movie. I had planned to backup this movie and reedit it to include the deleted scenes in the proper places in the movie. Has anyone ever done this? If so whats the best way to do it? Thanks.

that is hell of a job
you must demux all dvd into pieces
re-edit m2v files and ac3 and audio streams
re-build all menu
bundle things together again.
it will take at least 1 week for you if this is first time you do it.
however I've been looking around just for a fine m2v joiner (I'm using tmpgenc now) for 1 day.
if you find it, tell me. -
It is a hell of a job you want to do. The only "easier" way I can think of is to split the VOBs by Cell ID (you can do this with VobEdit). Normally commercial movies are constructed in a way that each cell is one scene, hence the chances are the deleted scenes don't fall in the middle of a cell in the original.
Then reorder all the cells the way you want and author with a tool that accepts VOBs as assets (like DVD-Lab). You'll need to fix the IFO files for the correct audio and subtitle streams (there are guides on this site how to do this) and pray it all works fine. I'd be surprised if you get seamless play and the navigation works 100% so burn first to RW and test it to see if you have FF/FR functionality at all speeds and you can move OK from one chapter to another. The timer on your DVD player will be all messed up probably too. -
VTM, You can actually do this pretty easily with a program called Womble MPEG2VCR. It is an amazing program that will take any VOB ripped to your HD and let you edit it pretty much any way you want with frame accuracy then save the results as a DVD compliant MPEG2 file without re-encoding.
I have used this program for cutting scenes and re-ordering scenes in DVDs with amazing results. The only problem you might run into with adding deleted scenes is with the sound. Since amost all deleted scenes on DVDs are 2 ch you might have trouble mixing the 2ch with 6 ch. However if you use the original 2 ch stereo track on Terminator you probably won't have any problems.
If you want to add deleted scenes to a 6ch film one way should work (at least in theory) but is a little complicated is this: Take the VOBs where you want add a scene and split them at the exact frame where the new scene should appear, save them as seperate files. Then save the deleted scene as it's own seperate file. Load them into an authoring program like this:
File A
Cut Scene
File B
The authoring program should read cut scene as a seperate title and author accordingly. If all goes well the final result should be an 6ch dvd with the deleted scenes edited back in. You might get a small jump when the deleted scene is played but it would be less noticeable than the average "Extended Branching" on discs like X-men or most layer changes. 8)
Hope this helps.
PS you can download a free trial of Womble MpegVCR at www.womble.com. If you try this method post your results here okay, I'd love to know how this worked for you.
