Sometimes (most) only after using MTR when its has finished I close it (red button) and it dosen't matter if I hit the eject button on the keyboard or drag to eject, the eject symbol comes up on the screen but dosen't eject the disc, I have to restart the G4 I thought I could trick it by opening toast to do a copy but toast cant detect a superdrive, its really weird and I dont know what to do about it, any ideas? Is there a force eject option?

Mac OSX Keyboard Commands yet there is no force eject. I had this problem a few times but a restart usually makes the eject key work again

That's strange, of all the tens of thousands of people using MTR, none have reported this problem. What version are you using? Are you sure you don't have some other app or process accessing the DVD drive? Perhaps the upcoming version 2.0 will fix your problem, as we've reworked DVD access with a completely different method.

I am using version 1.5.5a, I dont use the superdrive for anything other than putting in the DVD for MTR to read the disc and when it is finished I try to eject the disc, when I have this problem if I try to eject again from the bar at the top, using the mouse to click on open superdrive the little color wheel starts to spin. As for the pin hole trick there is no pinhole, I have the mirror door model.

Try upgrading to the latest public release, 1.5.6 of MTR.

I just ripped a DVD using MTR 1.5.6, I closed MTR after it finished and before hitting the keyboard eject button I thought I would launch the DVD player and play the DVD and then try to eject but it came up with "not permitted" I then quit the DVD player, launched MTR to try and eject from MTR and it came up with "no disc inserted" message, I then tried to open a VIDEO_TS file and the computer crashed or froze with typing all over the screen with things like corrupt stacks etc. Thinking back it only started when I tried to back up my finding nemo and lion king 2 these are both ntsc discs all the rest are pal, I tried lion king 2 first and it told me I had to change my region first and that I could only change it 4 more times I couldnt even rip it, so I tried finding nemo that had a similar problem and its only since then, any more ideas please?

This is an occasional problem that you get with any cd/dvd app on the Mac. The software eject, while much cooler than manually pressing a button on the drive, doesn't always cut it when you have an unrecognised disc in the drive

A few things that have worked for me in the past:
    - Launching iTunes and using that app's eject command (command-E) in that app will sometimes do the trick. It seems to have more oomph than the Finder's eject command.
    - A small app called 'Mount Me' can sometimes remount the disc; and
    - Another app called 'Mount', ditto.
    - However, sometimes none of these work and a reboot is about all you can do (annoying though!).

I dont understand what makes it an unrecognised disc I preview them before ripping them and they work fine, I have even tried using the eject button on MTR and that did the same thing!

Who knows? It's just some glitch. It used to happen to me occasionally with forty-two.

Hopefully, it will be fixed by MTR 2.0, which has completely different DVD access methods.
