  1. I was wondering if anyone has a similar problem to my own and whether anyone has come up with a solution.

I have my DVR-510H connected, via rca cables, to the audio/video output of my Bell Expressvu 4700 satellite receiver (equivalent to a DishNetwork 4900 receiver). Every time I put the DVR-510H in auto record mode (following the instructions in the manual and first turning off my satellite receiver) it turns on and begins recording about 1 second after I put it in auto record mode; this despite the fact that the satellite receiver is not turned on. I have verified that this does not happen when I remove the rca cables from the back of the DVR-510H.

Is it possible that there is some signal always present at the a/v output of my satellite receiver even though it is turned off? If so, would there be anyway to dampen this signal? Basically, I am looking for any solution to correct this problem as I record the same programs each month and would have to manually enter the timer programs into the DVR-510H 12 times a year in order to record them without the auto record feature.

    Thanks for any responses.

    Jake.

Sorry to say that my 210H does exactly the same thing with DishNetwork Receiver, and I haven't been able to find a work-around.

  3. Are you also using the RCA inputs or are you using s-video input (I'm not sure which inputs the 210H has).

S-Video. I was more willing to put up with having to set the timer to get the video through the "good" input than I was to switch to composite, possibly get the auto-start working, but to get a degradation in quality (coming out of the Dish Receiver, it's already going to be compressed twice; I sure don't want to make things worse). In response to spiderman2k1 pointing to the thread at avsforum, was that you again Jake? The responders there do not offer a solution yet.

  5. Curtw,

Yes it was me in avsforum as well. I still don't have a solution so am programming both the expressvu receiver and 510. Thanks for your help with this one.

    Jake here.
