My MA burner is a re-patched BTC, so I was told. This baby has a 16x speed on dvd-rom reading. But I wasn't able to rip a dvd with anything close to 8x, even with the fw update. Can someone help?
Thanks

Firmware probably has a riplock, then. Go see if there's an un-rip-locked version over at rpc1.org (they do more than just RPC1 stuff... a lot of riplock removal happens there as well).
If there isn't one already available, you could request on in their forum, and if one of the patchers there is interested enough, they might take you up on it. Otherwise, you'll be out of luck.
