    Hi everyone

I'm newbie in this forum and in Video editing.

I just purchase Dazzle "Digital Video Creater 80" from Pinnacle for $59.00 couple of weeks ago. It comes with a USB 2.0 device that connects from your computer and the movie camera.

The reason I brought Creator 80 was to transfer some of my old videos tapes from my old "Sony DCR-TRV310 Digital High 8 tape" and at the time Sony didn't supply their cameras with the proper cables or any i-link devices so you could transfer analog signals into digital format.

Anyway on my first try in using Dazzle 80 from my trip to "Commemorative Air Force" Fina-CAF Air Show 2003 which was back on 9/27/2003.

First off Dazzle 80 only comes with Pinnacle Studio 8 Quickstart which is very limited in options.

It is very easy to use. So I transfered all video taken from that Fina-CAF Air Show which was about 40 minutes in total length.

Once edited the video using Pinnacle Quickstart timeline....I went to settings and set everything at high quality in DVD format.

Rendering which took appox. 2 & half hours to complete and burn it into DVD format.

Played the disc on my home DVD player. The quality of the video was not to bad overall....but it has a noticable jerkyness in the scenes during play back.

Not very happy with the results ....I think most for the reason was from a very basic version of Pinnacle Studio 8 Quickstart and what I heard about Studio 8 series and its known stability issues.

I might upgrade "Pinnacle Studio 9" if it can do a better job for me. I have alot of old videos to conver over to digital format.

More research is in order before I purchase or download any other software.

My question is there anything else out there that can do the job better?

Some have told me that Sony ScreenBlast can do the job, but I don't think it supports USB 2.0.

    Any help would greatly appreciated......

    Best Regards

I think, but am not sure:

Most usb capture devices which employ hardware encoders are propietory to bundled software for the actual capture.

If the device and software do the capture alright, then any editing/authoring program should be able to handle the file.

Capture devices that utilize software encodeing for the most part can be reconized and used by most video programs.

Thanks for responsing back to me. Yes I agree with you. Most software should work with USB capture devices.

I have Adobe Premerie Pro but I having hard time figuring out how to get it to recognizes my USB device. Only a recognizes IEEE 1394 firewire as a default device.

Pinnacle Studio 8 is very buggy and it known stability issues. Pinnacle Studio 9 doesn't seem to have fix its stability issues. So Studio 9 is not a option.

I was hoping that someone might have run into the same problem and has a great alternative as far as better software to handle the rendering and final burn to a DVD.

    Thank You
