  1. Hiya all....

I'm using a Sony DRX-510UL (USB) DVD burner. I've updated to the latest firmware (f). I'm trying to burn an ISO image that I downloaded. If I burn the ISO to a DVD+RW, it works like a charm. If I try to burn it to a DVD-R, I don't get any errors during the burn (using DVD Dycrypter), but my DVD player won't be able to play it (and my DVD player has always worked before with DVD-R). If I copy the DVD+RW to a DVD-R, then my DVD player will play it, but the last 10 minutes or so of the movie are all jittery and pixelated (not a problem with the DVD+RW). I thought that it might be the media, so I have tried 3 different types of DVD-R media (Ritek, Princo and a generic). Still the same problem. Is there a difference between DVD-R and DVD+R that might be the cause of this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated as my pile of coasters is getting larger and my wife is complaining of the blue language coming out of the computer room.

    Thanks

  2. Do they play on your pc fine ?

Do they work on a friends player ?

If the rw plays fine then I would lean towards the fact that it is your player simply not liking dvd-r's, what does the manual say ?

  3. Hiya.....

If I try to play the DVD-R burnt from the ISO image, it won't play on the PC. If I try to play the DVD-R copied from the DVD+RW on the PC, I get the jitters/pixelation problem at the end. I've burnt a lot of DVD-R using DVDLab and they all work on my player. However, having said that, all the movies that I have cut using DVDLab don't use up all of the DVD (usually a few 100 MB short of a full DVD). I guess what I'm asking is "Do DVD-R and DVD+RW have the same storage capacity? Are the DVD-R slightly smaller?

  4. As far as I am concerned (I may be wrong but i don't think so) they are the same.

  5. Oops, forgot the important part of the message. Yes I have tried it on 3 different DVD players and they all get the jitters/pixelation at the end.

  7. Just tried BurnAtOnce. Same problem. If I get a chance this weekend, I'll try to pick up some DVD+R instead and see what happens.

  8. Tried several different types of DVD+R media and they all work (even the $0.75 cheapies). Still can't write to ANY DVD-R media. Has anybody run across this problem before? By burner will write to DVD+RW and DVD+R flawlessly, but not to DVD-R even though it used to.
