    Here's my dilemma:

I just captured a film from laserdisc to the HDD on my lovely new Panny DMR-E85H. I've burned it to a DVD-R, so I can rip it to my computer's HDD and mess with it. The film in question has burned-in subtitles on the print, but I'd like to add more readable subs below the bottom matte (it's a scope film, so there's plenty of room). Is there a way to create a subtitle file that will work with the finished .vob files? Would I have to join them together first? I don't have a capture card in my computer, so I can't make an avi file of the laserdisc. Another option: I have a pressed DVD of this same film with nice removable subs (the picture and soundtrack of this DVD are screwed, in case you're wondering why I don't just watch that). Would it be possible to rip this sub file and add it to my .vob files? I'm guessing not, as that would seem far too easy. Any help on this would be much appreciated!!!

yes - just use subtitle workshop to edit and convert your subs to .srt and then using srtwsup convert to .sup file.
then u have to demux the movie and re-mux it with the new subs.
the whole process is very well explained in ont\e of the guides in this site and i've already done it several times so i can assure u it works.

well, it's not too easy but for me it's worth the effort.

no point in wasting a perfectley good disc... just burn to a rewritable or better yet create an image using sth like dvd decrypter and use a virtual drive to see it (I like Alcohol 120% for making my virtual drive...)
With all due respect... and there is respect...
