I have an ATI All-In-Wonder card that can be used as a PVR. Scheduled recordings don't always work due to whatever else is going on with my system at the time. To be fair, they actually worked 90% of the time but it only took a couple of lost shows for me to stop relying on sheduling in advance. Most of the shows I cap I'm usually at home at the time to supervise recording.

I'd rather have a TIVO but that's not why I bought my card. I got it for capturing analog video as well as archiving my favorite TV shows. Ideally I'd like to have both but I'm content with just having my ATI card.

    Yes several people have.

Yes but hiding all those cameras in my bedroom was more difficult than I thought it would be.

you can indeed go from a sky digibox to PC, Will does this with an ADVC-100, i do it with an ADVC-50 and plenty of people use the ATI Aiw cards.

the Nova-T. it picks up freeview, which (you may know this so just ignore me if you do) is in MPEG-2 format. you can just record it to your HDD, convert the stream with pvastrumento and author to DVD-r. WAAAAAAAAY less hassle than capture cards and multi gig .avi files and out of sync sound.

personally i have one of these. http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2WXJ

    it's sweet 8)

  12. yeah the Humax is reasonably priced BUT there is no way to get your stuff off the machine and into your PC AFAIK.. they advised me to wait for the 9000 .. which might feature pc connex. 8)

yeah, the PVR8000 (a satellite model) has a USB connector, you can even upload mpeg2 and mp3 files to play back on the box! i took my PVR8000T hoping to find a USB header, but alas, no.

Currently i capture over S-video using my ADVC-50. it's more convenient for editing than the mpeg files would be, i NEVER get sync problems, and it's all round groovy.

A/B testing shows the colours are "different" when comparing DVD-R to played back file, but when watching both over S-Video they are the "same"

    Good enough for me
