Just curious, what does additional ram benefit in making a (s)vcd? Does it benefit capture? Does it benefit encoding? And if so how and why? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Ram should benefit capture by allowing windows more space to work, without having to page (I noticed slow down with 128 compared to 256 with windows in general), and means that you have more room for error as far as the comp is concerned. Encoding doesn't use much ram, but more is still good at currnet prices. For cap Hard disk speed is the biggest limiter, and for encoding CPU speed the biggest.
