  1. Using Nero Info Tool I was checking my MSI DVD Rom. While just browsing I clicked on ASPI Tab and at the bottom highlighted in red was "ASPI Installation is Corrupted". I checked my ASPICHK.EXE v2.0 Folder and the "components missing" was grayed out. It shows 2 items installed, ASPI32.sys and WNASPI32.DLL. The other 2 items shown are not installed. I found this out because I'm trying to troubleshoot why my DVD Rom will not play my DVDR-'s and also my Power DVD use to Auto recognise any DVDs I put in the Rom or Burner. I think I have the settings in Power DVD set appropriatly. Yes I did reformat my comp but was careful about reinstalling everything. After install I did go to Adaptec's site and dowloaded 4.71 and installed accordingly. My comp. is set up the same as it was before except during the first install I never used Nero Info Tool to check my ASPI. So it may have been existing then to. I do not have any trouble playing CSS Encrypted movies. The only thing different this time is I installed Pinnacle 9 if that makes a difference. Can anyone offer any advice about the "ASPI Installation is Corrupt" in Nero Tool Info? Also I'm running XPsp1.

  2. There are way too many reasons "why" it could have happened,

just reinstall your ASPI and you should be fine.

  3. Yes I'm a newbie so please forgive me. I just download the file and installed. Same result. My question is should I have deleted the contents of the Adaptec folder first or will it overwrite them. In the ASPICHK.EXE v2.0 it shows todays date as last modified. Once again thanks.

  4. download Force ASPI from the tools section. use it to kill the current ASPI layer, completely removing it. Reboot and use it to install the new ASPI layer.

I just did the same this afternoon because NeroInfoTool saw them corrupted (strange enough that ASPICHK did not)

    Probably another Nero bug

  6. I've done this several times now but this is how it went..........unfortunatly.
Installed Force ASPI. Successful. Rebooted, Nero shows it's working. Downloaded Adaptec ASPI to desktop, unzipped to default directory, was prompted to overwrite or replace files which I did, installed, rebooted. Nero Tools shows "installation is corrupted". Somethings I noticed in ASPCHK was the creation date was wrong it shows last week when I did a complete reinstall and last modified is todays date but time is 4hours ahead. Would this have anything to do with it? I backed up several DVDs fri night and it worked flawless. It's just got me annoyed

  7. Try downloading FRCASP17
I downloaded and kept a copy about a year ago
the adaptec 4.7 layer causes problems with xp and shows corrupt files
    you want 4.60(1021)
this will sort you problems out

  8. stop trying to use the one from Adaptec. Force ASPI is the adaptec layer version 4.61 I believe. 4.7 is not stable at all. Just use Force ASPI and forget the Adaptec download altogether.

  9. Well, I guess that's the way it's gonna have to be. For 3 hours now I have tried. By the way the Force ASPI, Nero does acknowledge and everything is alright I guess. As far as the Adaptec 4.72 goes wowpost and winaspi will not update. I tried renaming them to the titles in the adaptcheck, tried copying them to my system folder. Once did I get the 4.72 wowpost to show up in the Adaptcheck but not the winaspi. I will see how it performs. It's has to be better cause I'm gonna assume it wasn't right in the first place . I just can't get over the fact that the date on the Force ASPI is the late 90's Thanks all for your help!

I also have ASPI 4.71.2 installed and have seen the same message from Nero. I have decided that it is a bug in Nero since my system works perfectly. In the readme file included with the ASPI 4.71.2 package, it specifically says to ignore any message in ASPICHK about some components not installed.
