If you are in UK or most of Europe Most stuff will happily play back NTSC DVDs , It's the region code that may be your problem. If you live elsewhere in the world I don't know.

If you make a backup of your DVDs with say DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter the region code will be removed automatically.

Framerate conversion , which is what you are asking for , it is not the easiest of things to do. Have a look HERE while you await replies.

the version of vdub capable of handling mpeg2 can put in the subs and frameserve at 25fps to TMPGenc - but these will be hard subs, can't turn them off. if that's acceptable then that is probably the easiest way - there are PLENTY of NTSC to PAL and vice versa threads to read.

  7. Well i have no problem at all any more converting a NTSC to PAL, easy! just cant find a way to "rip" the dvd to an uncompressed avi ? forget the subtitles!!!

Is that what u just said ? sory my english.

Well so thats my last problem - to convert the DVD to an uncompressed AVI ?

Can i maybe use DVD Shrink and get an AVI (uncompressed) as output ?

why do you need an uncompressed AVI? DVD2AVI can do it for you though.

  9. I have just had a similar problem.

I have been trying to get useable mpgs from a NTSC 29.97fps DVD (a cameraman friend's showreel, so no region encoding or encryption), with no luck,

after trying the various guides I still had no luck. The TMPGEnc framerate conversion still gave jumpy video.

I finally got it done this way:-

Used VDub MPEG-2 to rip uncompressed AVI files

Then I used goCCE and CCE SP Trial http://www.cinemacraft.com/eng/download.html

open goCCE select your AVI file, select PAL as TV type, hit encode and it open CCE SP which gives you a M2V (mpg) file and a WAV file at 25fps 720 x 576

I did try using VDub as a frame server, which goCCE accepted, but the result was a 29.97 fps file that tMPGENC DVDAuthor rejected.

seems to work fine for me.

If its still jumpy you may need to adjust your field order. try a test clip using the opposite field oder to see if that fixes the 'jumpy' video.

  11. Try Ace Video Workshop. It does NTSC to Pal and vice versa.
