    I rip the DVD, and open it in dvd2avi. Dvd2avi tells me that the movie is in 16:9.

    When opening in VirtualDub it say 720x576...?

    But that's not 16:9 ! 16:9 would be 720x405...?

    Ain't 16:9 the same as 1024x576...?

    Letterbox 4:3 is 720x540...?

    I just wan't my final output to be best...

  2. Resolution has nothing to do with aspect ratio. Resolution defines richness of the image (more resolution, more data, nicer picture). Aspect ratio defines the format of the image.
