I had a standalone RCA DVD recorder that I used to start recording a TV series on using a DVD+R. I was unhappy with the machine, so I got rid of it and bought tyhe cyberhome recorder. When I tried to continue to record the program on the same disc using the cyberhome I was unable to. The disc was not finalized. IS there anyway I can continue to record on this disc? I also have a LITE ON burner for the PC if there would be a way to do it with that.

The problem is that the "pending" discs that haven't been finalized aren't a standard format from machine to machine. That's why they always remind you to finalize before attempting to play on a standalone player. Finalizing converts the files and directory structure to the DVD standard and it is then playable in standalone players.

About the only thing you can do is repeat with a test recording, don't finalize, and read both discs on your PC. Compare both and see what the files look like. Try opening files from both in your editing app. If they have different extensions you'll probably need to do all further editing on your PC and not the standalone recorder.

Me niether. Probably a proprietary RCA format. My Panny uses a semi-standard .VRO which editing apps can mostly all open.

Why not find a store that has the RCA on display and discreetly use it to finalize your disc?

    mikel

You could (if asked) say you are checking to see if it is compatible
    with your disc.
