Now folks I want a good guide to converting XVid to VCD. I use the guide on this site and it works but after 5 minutes or so the whole thing goes out of sync. I'm talking about converting the sound to wmv using VirtualDub. So what I want is this....
A definite way of converting XVid to VCD without any screw ups
no audio out of sync
IT must work perfectly
Please help me meet these needs. [/i]

The guides here are just fine. Just because your most likely downloaded XVids have messed up audio, it doesn't make the guides here wrong or bad. -
Why on earth are you converting the sound to WMV? Did you mean WAV? If you did, did you check full processing mode under the audio tab in virtual dub? I've only had sync problems converting xvid with VBR audio. I dont see what the problem is. Convert the audio to a .wav select full processing or it wont work. If its marked for direct stream copy you're just getting exactly what is on the avi.
By the way demanding someone give you a good guide when the ones on the site are the best on the net is not the way to go about things.
Honestly I think the problem is right between your desk and your chair, try looking there.Look, let me explain something. I'm not Mr. Lebowski; you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or Duder. His Dudeness. Or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing-- -
I meant it was WAV. Sorry about that.....
I am mad because I have been working on one movie for 3 hours. I did use full processing mode and it still didn't work. I do not like following a guide that didn't work after 3 hours. I'm stressed about it since 3 hours of tinkering on a file amounted to nothing. I'm just very very pissed at the moment is all.
What do you mean by messed up audio?
Well.....if my audio is 'messed up' how can I make it work? -
See if the video that you are converting is out on DVD. You will get the best quality that way without all the messing around.

VBR audio as the other poster mentioned. It will go out of sync when you convert to VCD.
-
Well how can you make the VBR audio not go out of sync when converted?

Anybody that downloads ripped off Xvids deserves what they get.
And apparently they are all getting it -
1. Analyze the file in GSPOT so you know what you're working with.
2. Then use TMPG (or PROCODER) to convert to VCD.
If it has audio drift, good luck. I never get that. I hear VitrualDub can find the bad frames or other culprits.
If this is a legitimate download, I feel sorry for you. But if it's warez, specifically a movie still in theatres, I have no sympathy; go to the theatres or wait and buy/rent the DVD. I never see others source with this problem: it's normally just downloads of movies. Those long files tend to corrupt easily.
I spend countless hours on video. Some of it works, sometimes not (and I have to redo it again). Hobby of patience, 3 hours is nothing.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
