I have a MPEG1 file (VCD) file that I want to convert ot MPEG2 and burn on to a DVDR. I have been using Virtualdub and TMPGEnc to convert my divx and xvid AVIs to MPEG2 and they have worked just fine. When I try to do the same thing with an MPEG1 file the audio is out of sync.
I am extracting the audio as a wav file using Virtualdub and then using TMPGEnc to combine them back together as an MPEG2 file. Is there another of doing this that will not cause the audio sync problem.
Thanks,
Chris

There, you don't even need to transcode your video. Sorted.
The guides for this sort of thing fall under the "Authoring" guides section. Easily missed!
Hope this gets you underway!

I use Isobuster to rip the Mpeg from the VCD back to my HD.
If there is more than one Mpeg , TMPGenc to merge the Mpegs into 1 file.
The TMPGenc DVD Author which automatically converts the Audio to 48k.
And then Burn.
Just one thing to add is that I personally think that it is a waste of most of a DVD-R to just put one Mpeg1 movie on 1 disc . You can get about 7.5 hours of Mpeg1 on a DVD-R which is 3 decent length movies .
With a menu to select which movie to watch.
Hope this little bit of extra info helps. -
The file I have is an .mpg file that is MPEG1. I have tried all of the above ways to get it on to a DVDR and they all end up with the audio being out of sync. It starts out fine but slowly gets ahead of the video. After about an hour the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the video.
Does anyone know what causes this? If I watch the original file the audio is fine.
