Per Apple's website info, SP3 will write to -R/RW and +R/RW.

    Link: http://www.apple.com/dvdstudiopro/author.html

I hope this means they will stop putting firmware limits (no +R/RW) on Mac Superdrives.

    This also sounds nice:
DVD Studio Pro 3 can open MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video files natively, or import any QuickTime-compatible video format. Imported video is automatically background-transcoded to superior quality MPEG-2.

it has imported mpeg-1 and mpeg-2 since 1.0... i dont really see how that is a big deal... and i never burned w/ studio pro anyways i always built in studio pro and burned in toast.. i guess none of that stuf really matters to me. and if it auto-re-encodes mpeg-1 that will be a downgrade for me.. cuz if im including mpeg-1 video i dont want to re-encode it to mpeg-2 cuz that just makes it 1) take longer and 2) take up more space then necessary and 3) doesnt increase quality.

I know that DVDSP2 does not re-encode an mpeg2 file that was made with Compressor, haven't done anything with mpeg1.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

well no one will know the answer of 3.0 till its out.. i know 1.0-2.0 it has always accepted mpeg-1 and never re-encoded it so i assume that will remain the same.

True. I should have edited the quote down, a little.

I was actually more interested in the part after mpeg 1/2:
... or import any QuickTime-compatible video format. Imported video is automatically background-transcoded to superior quality MPEG-2.
For a lazy ignoramus - like me - that sounds kind of neat!

For you (who can actually code programs like 42, and your up-coming release) I'm not surprised you have to stifle a yawn!
