  1. Hi Again,

Just read that Workshop 2 is out and running... anyone have any feedback if this is a good choice? What ar the pro's and con's of it? Is it better than Encore?
    Is it stable or buggy?
    * AND * does anyone know how many chapter points you can have in a project? Is it over 99??

Any feedback would be helpful for when I decide on a purchase...

    Thanks!

  2. It's more stable than Encore, but Encore is an overall better package.

  3. Anyone else use Ulead DVD Workshop 2? Is it the best choice among mid-range authoring apps right now?

  4. I use it and like it but haven't tried Encore. I like it better then Moviefactory3, DVDarchitect, sonicDVD and DVD lab. Down side is that its costs >$250. It has been very stable and easy to use.

It's my current favorite. It has just the right balance between a rich variety of templates and content, especially if you download the extra content from the Ulead site, and the freedom to create on your own. In other words, much more flexibility and content options than TMPGEnc DVD Author, but you don't have to do everything from scratch like DVDLab. Plus it has a preview option, unlike the other two, so you can always keep checking and tweaking exactly how things will look.

Downsides: Errors out if you put chapter points beyond 80% of a 23.97fps source, and you can't simply select which part of a video will be your motion thumbnail, because the only option is to play it from the beginning. Specialist pointed out that you could make another file of the segment of your choice and use that, but it's a cumbersome extra step. On the other hand, if you want a still with audio background in TMPGEnc DVD Author, you have to produce that as an extra file too, and calculate and type in the audio duration by hand, so that's cumbersome too.

Nothing's perfect, but Ulead DVD Workshop 2 offers both quick and easy content-rich and editable templates, as well as the flexibility to be as independently creative as you wish and do your own stuff.

  6. Hey p_l, in DVD Workshop 2.0 if I have multiple short clips put in the menu, how do I get the 'skip' function working? it works when I put only 1 large file and split into many chapters. Also I can't direct access to each file using 'numbered' button on my dvd player? thanks
