  1. Tried using TMPEG to convert a SVCD/VCD files to DVD playable format. I followed the guide on the TMPEG program to convert. I have two large .DAT files with the names, VIDEO1.dat, and VIDEO2.dat, I am trying to join these and produce a playable DVD. These two files were in the folder called MPEGAV. Part of the tutorial asks that you browse to these files and load....however TMPEG says..UNRECOGNIZED FORMAT? Is there another approach to convert these to one large DVD playable file, or am I missing something on TMPEG program. Tip of the hat....and thanks!

First of all, you need to use vcdgear to change your .dat into a .mpg file. Secondly, you don't have to convert the video at all, it's already DVD compliant. All you have to do is seperate the audio and resample it to 48000hz. Demultiplex the audio and video with TMPGEnc by going ot File>MPEG Tools>Simple Demultiplex. That will give a a m1v file and a mp2 file. Use FFMPEGgui to resample the audio and make a new mp2 file(or ac3 if you prefer). Load the new mp2 and m1v file into your DVD authoring software and burn the authored folders.

And you probably shouldn't bother joining your files, let the authoring stage "join" them. You get a small delay when the DVD player switches from one to the other, but it avoids other problems like lack of sync.
