Before I bought my Epson R200, I remember some people making the comment that they thought they could get about 100 cd's per ink cartridges. I'm thinking that they must have been doing some other printing in addition to the cd's because I'm getting MUCH more than that. I just went through my first 100 spindle of Memorex DVD+r's and my black cartridge is at about 50%, and the other cartridges are anywhere from 60-70%. I'm very happy because I didn't realize how expensive the ink cartridges were until I saw them at Best Buy the other day. Looks like I ought to be able to get close to 200 cd's out of them (and that's only printing cd's and nothing else).

By the way, I use the "Photo" print option and keep everything else at the default settings.

    That's good to hear.
I'm using exactly the same settings as you and only plan to use this printer for DVD's.
After around a dozen full colour disks (plus five or six with brief text) this is my status..

tgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have.

After more than 1000 discs I can say that my R300 yields 330 - 350 pcs per cartridge loading. The blue ink /both/ run out most slowly. I print at best photo -1, -2. I print mostly on Ritek G04 and BeAll 4x.

    Enjoy!

  4. The following link is for Epson print managment software. Although
not 100% compatable for the R200, the ink remaining diag is displayed
with a numeral % along with the histogram - more useful in checking
    ink use imho.

most printers, in most situations, will run through ink in the orde of Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black. You will get the fewest pages from Yellow, or in your case, Disks.

Printer mfgs tell you X no of pages, and you assume X no of 8X10 photos, but it is actually "at 5 % coverage", which is zip.

I hope you are having a ball with the disk printers. I see no need, yet, for my own, but you sharers should be happy to have a disk that is identifiable. I mean, to share with your family, or to back up for yourself, no accusation

Will, how is Joanne? Growing? Ain't they just beautiful? Lots of luck, pal, hope she breaks a bunch of hearts down the road.

    Cheers,

    George
