Hello, I live in the US and since all DVD players/TVs here cannot read PAL I need to rip and burn all my REGION 2 PAL DVDs to NTSC format. Does anyone know what tool I can use for this conversion (PAL to NTSC) without sacrificing video/audio quality? Thank you very much for your time!![]()

Hi!
I think that best thing to to is to get a region free standalone DVD-Player that can convert the output video signal from PAL to NTSC.
I have a Mustek DVD-560 that I can select between NTSC and PAL as output signal. It works perfectly for me.
Of course you can convert your PAL DVDbut I don't know a easy way to do this.
I suggest that you take a look in the DVD Players list in the link to the left.

I had the same problem when a friend in Sweden uploaded a PAL DVD to me. I ended up using Womble MPEG Video Wizard to recode it to NTSC. The conversion took about 22 hours, since I don't have the fastest PC. The only problem with it is slight motion lines in action scenes. I think it's an A-field/B-field problem, but it turned out pretty good considering.
Why is it that europe has dual-format vcrs and dvd players, yet we have to special order ours and pay a pretty penny. Could it be that, in our arrogance, we're assuming the rest of the world should adapt to our preferences??? Naaaaaaaaahhhh!
