  1. I have a 16:9 60" Philips TV. I recently bought a Progressive Scan DVD Player. I moved the DVD signal to a HD Composite input and now some movies still show borders on the top and bottom while others do not. The only difference I can tell is that the one's with borders are anamorphic Widescreen! Is there any way to fix this? When I viewed DVD on a non-HD composite input and had the TV set to Auto then everything was full screen, no borders.

    Any ideas?

  2. Hi kkaplan12.

16:9/1.85 will fill a widescreen display.
16:9/2.35 will have top and bottom black bars.

My guess is your TV used to stretch the image both horizontally and vertically to fill the screen when presented with 2.35 (and you were missing some of the image).
The input you're now using might not allow the tv to change the aspect ratio so you're now seeing what you're actually meant to see.
