Sorry, I'm new to all this, but I have some divx files which have been recorded with QPel, and they won't work on my DVD player.
Does anyone have some simple instructions for reencoding divx to remove the QPel?
And how much quality am I likely to lose in the reencoding, and how much time will it probably take?
Please, does anybody have any advise on this?

I don't know what QPel is, but try VirtualDub.
If in doubt, Google it.
