  1. Does anybody know something about following message: "S0002: This graph is not able to be previewed properly"?
It appears after starting recording action in Powervcr II 3.0 Standard - recording procces doesnt start, preview window is black. My capture card is ADVC 100 and works nice in other capturing applications.

  2. I get the same problem but when I reboot, it usually fixes the problem. However, after the capture the problem renews itself. I am not sure why this is happening. Maybe a driver conflict or something??

  3. I tried Powervcr II 3.O Pro Trial but also without success. It is possible to record from ADVC100 but only for a few seconds and than recording stops, captured file is bad. It is neccessary to "kill" application thorough task manager. My software configuration is XP/DX9 and a lot of different codecs and filters, including cyberlink applications (power director, power DVD).

  4. I have noticed the same error command when another program is accessing rights to the capture hardware at the time I execute PowerVCR. Since the hardware is already being monopolized by another software, PowerVCR is unable to access the hardware: Hence, the error code. So, my guess would be that some codec or software is hanging up your hardware so PowerVCR does not access it.

As far as the timing out during capture? I don't have a clue what would do this. I am sure you have already tried to reinstall the software numerous times. I don't know that I can help you on this one. Sorry.

  5. It probably isnt a good idea to capture using PowerVCR with the ADVC-100 anyway since the ADVC-100 exports Interlaced AVI and PowerVCR captures to Progressive Mpeg. The problem with Progressive Mpeg is ghosting. There are hacks to make PowerVCR capable of Interlaced Mpeg capture, but I have had little success with this. Every time I get A/V out of sync issues. It is probably best to use a DV capturing utility. The best I have seen thus far are WinDV and Scenalyzer. Virtualdub and VirtualVCR do not support firewire unless you capture the audio separately through your line-in. The capture will be grainy in DV transfers unless you have a TBC (Time Base Corrector).

"I should have bought the ADVC-300!"

  6. Reading lot of posts in forums around, it seems PowerVcr gives the best results in mpeg2 "on-the-fly" capturing. And it has something what I didnt see in other programs: noise filters & smoothing, important features for VHS capturing. Probably all of tests in forums are done with noDV capturing cards.
I'll try to make one clean installation of XP (main HD is mounted on portable rack) and install powervcr withot any other additional codec.

    Regards and thanx for support

  7. The ghosting problem is a claim I personally have not encountered capturing to Progressive MPEG using the ADVC-100 and PowerVCR II. I too like the additional filters and it is definitely the best MPEG capturing program I have used. I hope everything goes well with the reload and I do regret not being of better help to you on this issue.

Best of Luck with your VHS transfers.
